CONDITIONS

2 sessions with 15 knots average and 25 in the gusts. Rider is an 85kg weekend winger. About 6 hours of flight time in total.

SUMMARY

The wing Bora V2 RH is very well designed. Both the materials and the sewing feel solid. This all translates into an incredibly rigid wing with an absurd amount of power! The low end is impressive, along with the speed and acceleration. Strongly recommend for foilers that look for a performant 15 to 25 knots wing.

LOW END & PUMPING

The first thing you notice when you pick up the wing Bora V2 RH is how stiff and locked-in it is. It feels like the wing equivalent of a cambered windsurf sail. The rigid handles emphasize this characteristic and make the wing incredible in lighter winds. I wasn’t expecting to get going in 15 knots, but I did (with the r-high 1300 foil). Moving my front hand forward and placing my back hand in the middle of the handle gave me incredible pumping potential!

SPEED & ACCELERATION

This wing is fast! Remember the first ever time you got up on foil? I had the exact same smile the first time I got on foil with this wing. Every bit of gust translates into more speed. This comes from both the rigid frame and the canopy tension. The canopy is tensioned for the biggest part, but looser in the trailing edge. This allows clean wind release and gives instant acceleration. I haven’t found the maximum speed of the Bora V2 yet. It is an entire new workout that you’ll feel in your muscles the day after your session.

MANOEUVRERES

The wing Bora V2 RH has a fairly compact span, making it good in gybes. The rigid handles are a plus. Paired with the speed, it is a good freestyle wing that gives plenty of lift and is easy to handle. 180s and 360s felt easy.

UPWIND, DOWNWIND & WAVES

I wasn’t able to test the wing in pure wave conditions. The rather thin leading edge makes the wing slippery and shoot upwind, making your playground a lot bigger! Going downwind the wing drifts nicely. The shape of the front handle deserves special attention: it makes it easier than ever to depower and maintain control at all the time.

WINDRANGE & TOP END

The advertised 15/25 knots range feels spot on. It gets going quickly. When the wind starts to blow over 25 knots, the wing has too much power for me. However, (especially with the rigid front handle) it remains manageable .

RIGID OR SOFT HANDLES

I recommend the rigid handles to all, with 3 exceptions:

- If you are mainly in the waves, I would recommend the soft handles to get maximum lightness.

- If you are a lighter rider, consider the soft handles for a bit more tolerance and comfort.

- If you want to ride this wing mostly in its top end/ overpowered you can go both ways: soft for a bit more tolerance and comfort or rigid to use the front handle to depower.
