Just do a quick Google search to find out that inflatable Stand Up Paddle (SUP) boards have an extremely wide price range, ranging from 150 to 1500 euros. There are four factors that influence this gap:
- The quality and type of material used for the construction of the SUP board, together with the accessories supplied.
- The size of the SUP board, especially the length and thickness.
- The brand and its positioning on the market, with relative investment in marketing to be there.
- The strategy and distribution channels.
Today we will examine the type of material we use to build our I-Rider, I-Cruiser, I-Racer and I-Big, i.e. the Fusion Layer Dropstitch. This material has been specifically developed for the construction of medium/high level Stand Up Paddle boards. Only starting from this material can satisfactory results be obtained in terms of stiffness and performance.
Many years ago, the first inflatable boards were built using the common Single Layer Dropstitch, also used for other types of products. To make it more rigid, a second layer of PVC was manually glued. This operation was very laborious and slow, as it required attention to avoid subsequent defects such as bubbles and delamination. With the expansion of the market for inflatable SUP boards, the Fusion Layer was developed, also called MSL, which is basically a dropstitch with twice the thickness of the original. With the Fusion Layer the quality of the inflatable boards has increased and the defects significantly reduced. Until today all the inflatable Stand Up Paddle Reptile boards have benefited and benefit from this construction quality, combined with an obsessive attention to detail and premium accessories such as the backpack / trolley, the excess pressure relief valve, the pump double action, the leash and the US Box fin.
This is one of the many reasons why we #ridereptile.
