Maybe not everyone knows it, but inflatable boards, whether they are SUP or Wingfoil boards, if left in the sun with temperatures from 25 to 38 degrees can quickly increase their internal pressure from the canonical 15 PSI, a pressure that allows you to have excellent performance, at 25 PSI, pressure that can easily deform the board and / or cause it to explode.
To avoid this inconvenience and provide our customers with an increasingly exclusive and long-lasting product, we have equipped our I-Rider and I-Cruiser boards with a special safety valve which automatically releases excess pressure, bringing it back to 15 PSI.

How does the valve work?

Our special safety valve works exactly the opposite of the inflation valve. It is equipped with a mechanical spring device that self-activates in the event that the pressure inside our Sup increases drastically as the external temperature increases. A piston is connected to the spring which, under the elastic action of the spring, allows the excess air to escape. Our spring has been calibrated to withstand a pressure of 15PSI. Once this internal pressure is exceeded, the spring is activated, bringing the table back to the correct operating pressure.

Are all Reptile boards equipped with this special valve?

No, not all of our boards are equipped with the special safety valve, but only the I-Rider and I-Cruiser models, the so-called all-round boards. These Sups are normally intended for "holiday" use and are often left swollen for weeks or even months under the sun, on the beach, on the deck of a sailboat, on the roof of the car or in a Sup rental center Well, with this special pressure release valve, you can sleep peacefully, your board will automatically release excess pressure and you will no longer have to be careful to slightly deflate your board at the end of use.
Our racing boards, the I-Racer, are not equipped with this valve, as during a Sup race they can be inflated for a short time up to 18 PSI, in order to be even more rigid and performing. In this case it is a must to ensure that the pressure is manually brought back to 15 PSI once the competition is over, to prevent the board from undergoing unwanted permanent deformations or torsions.

Do you have other doubts about why choose a Sup Reptile board? This is one of the many reasons why we #ridereptile.
